Spray drying
Spray drying is a drying process used by Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik to produce pharmaceutical products in encapsulated, powdered or tableted form, for example. Spray drying is also used in the food industry to produce soluble beverage powders or granulates. As an outsourcing specialist, Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik offers spray drying for industrial production. We are also happy to develop individual production processes with you – contact us!
Spray drying involves spraying droplets or atomizing a liquid in a temperature-controlled room. The particles dried in this way are collected at the end and can be processed further.
Before the liquid starting material is dried, it is first converted into droplets during spray drying. This is done using an atomizer, which distributes the atomized material evenly into the drying medium – usually tempered air in a spray tower. The droplet shape gives the liquid to be dried a larger surface area, which can speed up the drying process enormously.
