Spray drying
Highly efficient drying with modular systems
Gentle processes for sensitive powders and pigments
We offer drying processes for a wide range of demanding products – from special plastic granulates and detergent additives to cosmetic powders, coating additives and pigments. We use state-of-the-art plant technology to ensure optimum residual moisture, consistent product quality and high process reliability. Depending on the material properties, we select the right drying system to process your products gently, energy-efficiently and reproducibly.
Vacuum drying allows for gentle drying with reduced thermal stress. This is particularly beneficial for sensitive powders, granules, or porous particle structures, where high temperatures could compromise product quality.
Industrial vacuum drying is suitable for, among other things, specialty plastic pellets, detergent additives, cosmetic powders, coating additives, and pigments. Key factors include material properties such as temperature stability, particle structure, target residual moisture content, and desired process reliability.
Relevant process parameters for vacuum drying include temperature profile, vacuum level, drying time, initial moisture content, residual moisture, and product movement. Ebbecke specifies temperature profiles up to 90 °C and a vacuum of 40 mbar as technical guidelines.
Residual moisture can be monitored during or after vacuum drying using process control systems and moisture sensors. Laboratory analyses can also be performed, such as using moisture-measuring balances, Karl Fischer titration, Hydro Tracer, or annealing.
A modular vacuum drying system is advantageous because different products can be dried in suitable container or tray modules. This increases flexibility when handling ultrafine powders, medium-grain-size distributions, and granules, and facilitates reproducible contract drying of larger quantities.
