The pulsation process developed by Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik AG in combination with a specially designed plansifter screening system enables the gentle contract screening of even the finest powders that are difficult to screen. Grain destruction, which occurs with conventional ultrasonic processes, especially with platelet-shaped powders, is significantly reduced. The system with a closed vibrating dosing chute allows infinitely variable adjustment of the inclination, speed of the planar excitation and intensity of the ultrasonic pulsation.

Areas of application

Sieving is used in a variety of special applications. These include the precise separation of platelet-shaped pigment particles, such as those found in paints or coatings. Particles with a porous surface structure can also be reliably processed, where shape and texture pose a particular challenge. Even products with a low bulk density can be efficiently separated using adapted screening technology without any loss of material. For materials that tend to agglomerate, screening offers a way of breaking up clumps and ensuring a uniform particle size. In addition, carrying out the process in a protective gas atmosphere enables sensitive or reactive materials to be processed gently, thereby preserving their quality and stability.

Ultrasonic screening is useful when very fine powders need to be separated gently and precisely. Ultrasonic technology can help reduce clogging and achieve a uniform particle size, especially for particles that are difficult to screen—such as those that are light, porous, or prone to agglomeration.

Ebbecke’s ultrasonic screening system operates with mesh sizes ranging from approximately 45 to 150 µm. This makes it particularly suitable for ultra-fine screening applications that require narrow particle size fractions and high separation efficiency.

In the pulsation process, ultrasonic pulsation is combined with a specially designed air classifier screening system. The angle of inclination, rotational speed, and intensity can be adjusted to suit the product, allowing for the gentle separation of ultrafine powders and minimizing grain damage.

Ultrasonic screening in an inert gas atmosphere is suitable for sensitive or reactive materials whose quality must be protected during processing. These may include special powders, materials containing pigments, or products that require particularly gentle separation.

The throughput capacity in ultrasonic screening depends heavily on the product, mesh size, and separation task. At Ebbecke, it ranges from approximately 50 to 300 kg per hour, depending on the application.
