In process engineering in the food industry, the focus is on hygiene and product safety. At Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik, we comply with all national and international regulations and guidelines, including those in accordance with the ISO HACCP system, IFS and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP guidelines), for contract processing of food. This concerns HACCP-compliant processing and storage of food up to delivery. In addition to controls and quality assurance in the area of hygiene during food processing, Ebbecke’s range of services also includes food traceability. It is intended to ensure that, in the event of problems, the consumer can directly trace where an intolerance or allergies may have come from.
GMP – Good Manufacturing Practice
Cleanliness and hygiene are of immense importance at every stage of food production. The requirements for hygienic, clean production extend to everything that can cause contamination: This includes not only machinery and production materials, but also equipment and containers, rooms, and personnel involved in the process. We keep a close eye on all these potential sources of contamination and have developed a comprehensive program to ensure hygiene and cleanliness, including detailed documentation.
Implementation of the GMP system
A Good Manufacturing Practice system (GMP guidelines) ensures that manufacturing products such as food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals are consistently produced and controlled according to defined quality standards. Every aspect of the manufacturing process is examined and covered by GMP to guard against risks that can be catastrophic to products, such as cross-contamination, contamination and mislabeling. Implementing GMP can help reduce losses and waste and protect both the company and the consumer from negative food safety events.
What are HACCP standards?
The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) concept also plays an important role in food processing. It is a clearly structured tool focused on preventive measures to prevent hazards in the context of food production and processing. Proper compliance with HACCP standards and the high standards of food safety in a company are documented by the HACCP certificate. It is relevant for all areas of the food industry and its suppliers.

Hygienic measures: Pre-treatment of food
At the beginning of food processing, the initial product has to be cleaned. For example, raw materials must be separated from dirt and impurities to prevent contamination of the final products. In addition, it must be taken into account that foodstuffs do not have an infinite shelf life: In their pure form, they are subject to constant changes in substances, and this must be responded to in GMP production. Thanks to clear structures and many years of experience, food can be processed quickly and thus safely at Ebbecke.
The be-all and end-all for a clean process: Cleaning the production facilities
To ensure a smooth, hygienic and clean production process in the food sector, the equipment must be cleaned at regular intervals. Here we apply all necessary measures to ensure an equally high quality as well as impeccable hygienic conditions. Customers of Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik can rely on high-quality, hygienic and at the same time fast production and processing.
Special attention to food storage
During the storage of food, changes may occur with regard to the structure and edibility of the products. These changes sometimes cause the food to lose its value-giving properties. It is therefore important to comply with all relevant standards during storage and to implement appropriate measures to prevent contamination of stored foodstuffs. With the technical knowledge and many years of experience of Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik, we can also store foodstuffs free of contamination.
Longer shelf life through food drying
During drying, so much water is removed from the food by the action of heat that the water content is between 18 and 25%. The low water content delays the spoilage process. For more information, see also contract drying at Ebbecke.
