Professional contract drying for individual requirements
Industrial drying of granulates and powders is an important area of process engineering and also plays an important role in Ebbecke’s range of services.
Each product has different requirements with regard to surface moisture, capillary moisture or crystal moisture.
In order to achieve a defined degree of drying while also protecting sensitive products, we make use of different drying systems and processes. This is because not every drying system is suitable for every product to be dried. Our customers can choose from fluid bed dryers, drying ovens, belt dryers and vacuum dryers.
The focus here is on vacuum drying and spray drying, among other things, as an important step before further processing of powders and granules, e.g. for the chemical industry, food and animal feed, or cosmetics. These processes are particularly suitable when sensitive products such as vitamins, hormones, proteins and essential oils have to be processed. We adapt to your individual requirements and, if necessary, also develop customized drying processes.
How does spray drying work?
In spray drying, an increase in surface area is achieved from a liquid base material by transferring it into droplet form, which enables faster drying. In this process, a nozzle is used to introduce the bulk material to be dried into a stream of hot air, which dries it to a fine powder in a fraction of a second. The powder, consisting of hollow spheres, also has a relatively uniform particle size, which facilitates further processing or even filling. Conversely, the particles obtained can in turn be quickly dissolved in liquids thanks to their large specific surface area.
Advantages of vacuum drying
For vacuum drying, customers of A. Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik AG have access to a highly efficient vacuum drying tunnel developed in-house. This gentle process is particularly suitable for temperature-sensitive goods such as foodstuffs, animal feed, pharmaceuticals, etc. As an economical solution, Ebbecke offers you here an innovative vacuum drying system with which even large product quantities can be dried quickly and reliably. And this with considerable potential for cost savings!

Accurate and reliable determination of residual moisture
To precisely determine the moisture content and ensure low residual moisture, the engineers at A. Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik AG use various measuring methods such as Coulometric Karl Fischer Titration as well as related methods. In addition, moisture analyzers from Sartorius and the software-based FMX HydroTracer system are used. Equipped in this way, we can achieve target moisture contents of up to 0.02% on our state-of-the-art equipment. And that’s not all: Thanks to our many years of experience and expertise, we can also ensure that the dried product is reliably protected against renewed moisture absorption by the air. Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik does this by using plastic or aluminum inliners or nitrogen blanketing. Further drying of the product by desiccator is also possible.
