The roller compacting system

The solution for low-dust products

Reliable technology for the required product

With our roller compacting system, powdery components can be compacted into pellets with particularly low dust levels. Several components with different properties can also be mixed and granulated together. Our roller compacting system therefore enables the efficient complete production of granulates from powder mixtures.

The systems used at Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik are equipped with pre-granulators and fine granulators. At the same time, the fines are returned via a post-screening system. The pressing force of all pelletizing systems is infinitely variable. In addition, some of the systems are equipped with pre-compaction by means of vacuum feed.

Precise granulate production with optimum properties

Areas of application

Our processes enable the production of granulates with precisely defined hardness and abrasion resistance thanks to infinitely variable contact pressure. This ensures a high level of product homogeneity and prevents segregation. Low-dust granules facilitate handling and improve mixing properties, while the compaction of the material reduces the container volume – while maintaining the same active ingredient content.

Frequently Asked Questions About Roller Compaction Systems

A roller compaction system is used to compact powdered components into granules with minimal dust generation. The process is suitable for powder mixtures where the goal is to achieve better flowability, easier handling, and a defined granule structure.

In roller compaction, powder is compacted between rollers, then pre-granulated, and finally finely granulated. A post-screening process separates out the fine particles, which can be continuously recirculated to produce a uniform, low-dust final granulate.

Ebbecke’s roller compactor is designed for granulation capacities ranging from approximately 5 to 500 kg per hour. The actual capacity depends on the product, formulation, target particle size, compression force, and desired granule quality.

Continuously adjustable pressing force makes it possible to precisely control the hardness, abrasion resistance, and compaction properties of the granules. This allows for the production of granules with defined product properties and helps reduce segregation in powder mixtures.

Various industrial packaging formats can be used in roller compaction, including big bags, octabins, bagged goods, cartons, and drums. This makes it easier to integrate the process into existing production and logistics workflows.
